Julia Lochhead is a fine art photographer based in the coastal town of Mount Maunganui. Living by the ocean informs her practice, where shifting light and the rhythm of the tide provide constant inspiration. Julia captures the feeling of a place, the movement of water, the changing light, and the energy of the ocean. Each image is created using intentional camera movement and varied shutter speeds in one continuous exposure, allowing light and motion to paint naturally across the frame. The resulting works are atmospheric and immersive, with dissolving horizons and colours that drift like brushstrokes. Every photograph is a one-off original fine art print, created as a singular and unrepeatable expression of light, tide, and movement.
